Welcome to the Mid Hunter Palliative Care Volunteer Service

Picture
We are here to help anyone who has been diagnosed with a life limiting illness or who has recently been diagnosed palliative. Mid Hunter Palliative Care Volunteers provide a free service to people within the communities of Cessnock and Singleton LGA's.

We are funded by Hunter New England  Area Health  Service.

We can help ensure people spend as much valuable time as possible with the one they are caring for in their home. It could be you or someone you love recently diagnosed with a life-limiting or palliative illness.

As a community based, not-for-profit organisation we provide trained volunteers to assist in a range of services to support the person, the carer and the family.
When palliative care is first mentioned it can be quite a shock. Our service can provide help and support through this time and beyond - for you and your family.

Many of the Volunteers have faced this situation first hand and are able to give you practical and emotional support. They represent a cross-section of our local Singleton and Cessnock LGA‘s.  They have chosen to be volunteers because they have experienced the journey of grief and loss and want to give back to their community.

This can be a very special and personal service of care in an individual's life. It also opens up a whole new world where you have lots of questions. We hope that our website will give you answers to some of those questions you may have and the information you need to make the next step.

All our volunteers work within our organisation's ethical guidelines and policies of confidentiality as well as bringing a non-judgemental and professional attitude to their volunteering.  They all undergo a comprehensive education course before being placed with a client and attend regular meetings and workshops.  A volunteer can visit you and spend time to listen and support with care, compassion and confidentiality.  Volunteers are not medical staff. They are caring people who are ready to give of their time to assist during this journey.

Please access the other information on this website and if you need any assistance please contact us.
